Jim Beam distillery to debut cocktail experience

Jim Beam has launched a Bourbon cocktail experience at its distillery in Kentucky this month, following the passing of Senate Bill 11, which allows distilleries to sell alcohol by the glass.

The Jim Beam American Stillhouse in Clermont, Kentucky has rolled out a new Jim Beam Bourbon bar, featuring cocktails that will rotate monthly, and a variety of drink options that showcase the complete Jim Beam family of brands.

The distillery aims to offer guests “a new way to learn about America’s native spirit” through the new Bourbon cocktail experience.

The passing of Senate Bill 11 (SB11) allows alcohol-related businesses statewide to receive new and increased privileges that are meant to support tourism and advance production.

SB11 also makes it possible for distilleries to apply for a NQ-3 license, which permits the sale of cocktails by the glass, with Jim Beam among the first of Bourbon distillers in the state to receive its NQ-3 license.

Fred Noe, seventh generation master distiller at Jim Beam, said: “It’s a great day for tourism and Bourbon cocktails here in Kentucky. For decades, we’ve immersed guests in my family’s distilling traditions with a hands-on mashing, distilling, barreling, bottling and tasting experience.

“Now, we’re giving visitors from across the world a chance to enjoy our whiskeys in a new way at the Jim Beam American Stillhouse – with delicious cocktails.”

Kevin Smith, vice president of Kentucky Beam Bourbon Affairs, added: “Bourbon has grown to a US$3 billion industry for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, SB11 allows distilleries to meet consumer demand and provide a unique cocktail experience in a responsible way through on-premise education programs for both long-time fans and curious newcomers.

“For Jim Beam, this means we’ll be pushing the creative boundaries on cocktail education with a variety of hand-crafted cocktails, which in turn enhances the experience on The Kentucky Bourbon Trail and promotes responsible drinking.”

The Jim Beam Bourbon bar opens to the public on 14 September to coincide with National Bourbon Heritage Month and the annual Kentucky Bourbon Festival.
