Glass to join Whyte & Mackay as whisky maker

Compass Box’s whisky maker Gregg Glass is set to join Whyte & Mackay as blender and whisky maker, the company has confirmed.

Gregg Glass will join Whyte & Mackay, reporting to Richard Paterson

A Whyte & Mackay spokesperson said that while Glass will join its team, he will not replace Whyte & Mackay master blender Richard Paterson, who celebrates his 50th anniversary in the industry later this month.

“Gregg will be joining us as blender and whisky maker, reporting into Richard Paterson,” a statement from Whyte & Mackay reads.

“Gregg has gained a wealth of experience within the whisky industry most recently with Compass Box Whisky where he was a whisky maker and brand ambassador based in London.

Glass has gained a General Certificate in Distilling and is in the process of studying for an Institute of Brewing and Distilling Diploma after graduating with a Master of Arts from Glasgow University.

Glass first joined Compass Box in 2005.

Whyte & Mackay announced earlier this month that Richard Paterson is set to embark on a world tour to celebrate its 50th anniversary, hosting a series of tastings.
