Diageo GT opens three Johnnie Walker Houses

Diageo Global Travel (GT) has opened three new Johnnie Walker House concept stores, including a co-branded space with baijiu distillery Shui Jing Fang at Beijing Capital International Airport.

Diageo GT has opened a new Johnnie Waker House at Beijing International Airport with an added baijiu focus

Described as a “collaborative platform”, the new retail space at Beijing Capital International Airport is the first of its kind and will both “educate and inspire” passengers in baijiu and Scotch.

In addition, two new Johnnie Walker travel boutiques have also opened at Incheon International Airport in South Korea, in partnership with Lotte Duty Free. A 16sqm store can be found in the East Main area, while a 64.4sqm store is located in Concourse Main.

The new openings take the total number of the Johnnie Walker stores to 15 in travel retail and five in the domestic markets.

In all three stores, travellers can find a “whisky scent bar” and a “luxury mentoring and engagement zone” where ambassadors lead sensorial experiences into Scotch.

The 150sqm Beijing Airport store, opened in partnership with Sunrise Duty Free, also features a “whisky constellation wall” focuses on the blending techniques behind Johnnie Walker, while offering an index for single malts.

“We are absolutely thrilled to extend the Johnnie Walker House footprint in Asia Pacific and bring three Johnnie Walker Houses to life in partnership with our customers in Beijing Capital International Airport and Incheon International Airport,” said Dayalan Nayager, managing director, Diageo Global Travel.

“This reinforces our long-term commitment to the travel retail channel providing travellers with a luxurious and inspiring shopping experience, in one of the most exciting travel retail regions worldwide.  Both airports are key travel hubs, handling a combined 60 million passengers a year which make them critically important in the Johnnie Walker House global expansion strategy.”

The three new stores join a recently opened Amsterdam boutique, Europe’s first Johnnie Walker House “embassy”.
