Visitor numbers have more than doubled during the last five yearsThe distillery has been keeping track of visitor numbers – which have more than doubled during the last five years – and recently began actively counting down the visitors in anticipation of reaching the one millionth milestone.
The team was able to pinpoint which week they would host the one millionth guest, and organised a celebratory day in their honour.
At 11am on Wednesday 31 August, the millionth visitor, who hailed from Lexington, was greeted by Buffalo Trace team members who gathered in the Visitor Centre with cheers, a balloon drop and a special prize pack.
Celebrations continued throughout the day, with cupcakes and other surprises for visitors and commemorative T-shirts for employees.
The distillery regularly welcomes visitors from across the US as well as more than 25 other countries, and in the last year alone, visitation at increased by more than 23%.
A statement from the distillery reads: “With this milestone reached, and with prospects for visitation not slowing anytime soon, Buffalo Trace will count onward to its two millionth visitor”.
