Bill Murray to bartend in Brooklyn this weekend

Hollywood actor Bill Murray will be slinging drinks at 21 Greenpoint this weekend, a new restaurant co-owned by his son Homer Murray.

Bill Murray is bartending in Brooklyn this weekend

Starting at 7pm on Friday and Saturday (16-17 September), the Lost in Translation star will have a go at tending the new bar in Brooklyn which replaces Murray and business partner Syd Silver’s former restaurant River Styx.

Homer Murray first told Eater New York: “We want people to come and have fun. People can walk in; just be nice. What my dad lacks in experience, he makes up for in Tequila.”

However it was reported that the phone hadn’t stopped ringing with people wanting to attend the grand opening.

The restaurant later released a statement saying: “For overall capacity reasons, this is not an open door event, there will be a guest list. The public will not be able to get in on Friday and Saturday.”

Despite being invite-only, the manager promised that they’d try to accommodate any fans after guests arrive.

This is not the only bar stint Murray has taken on — he infamously popped up with Wu Tang Clan at Austin bar Shangri-La during SXSW 2010 and poured nothing but Tequila shots for the bar’s patrons.
