anCnoc bottles single cask for La Maison du Whisky
By Annie HayesHighland single malt Scotch brand anCnoc is set to bottle its first single cask whisky to mark the 60th anniversary of French whisky specialists La Maison du Whisky.
The whisky commemorates La Maison du Whisky’s 60th anniversaryanCnoc 2005 has been matured for more than 11 years in first-fill American oak ex-Bourbon barrel number 427, and is rose gold in appearance.
On the nose, the whisky offers notes of wood smoke and burned stewed apples with “liquorice overtones”, underpinned by “rich vanilla and honey sweetness”.
Flavour notes include thick smoke on grated lemon peel, summer fruit salad, honey, vanilla, and spicy ginger. The finish is a combination of fruit and smoke, described as “powerful and long-lasting”.
The liquid will be made available at Whisky Live Paris on 24-26 September, to celebrate the whisky retailer’s role in the evolution of premium whiskies in the French market.
anCnoc brand manager, Stephanie Allison, said: “There are only a few hundred bottles available of this single cask which our distillery manager Gordon has carefully selected for its exceptional flavour.
“This is the first time anCnoc has released a single cask – and what better reason than to commemorate this landmark anniversary for La Maison du Whisky.
Bottled at a cask strength of 58% abv, anCnoc 2005 will be available from 24 September exclusively through La Maison du Whisky at the RRP of €119 for 700ml.
