Whiskies of the World – the “oldest” whisky tasting event in North America – is set to return next month in Austin and Houston, showcasing more than 200 spirits from across the globe.

The ‘oldest’ whisky tasting in North America returns to Houston and Austin next month

Originating in San Francisco, Whiskies of the World is a series of five whisky festivals taking place in California, Texas and Georgia.

Events will take place on 29 September at Austin’s Four Seasons Hotel, and in the Hyatt Regency in Downtown Houston on 1 October. With more than 200 spirits on offer, along with their makers and ambassadors, the one-day tasting caters for both consumers and trade.

Around 100 exhibitors are expected to present their wares in both cities.

Douglas Smith, event director said: “We’re bringing an enormous variety of spirits to these shows. People can explore new flavours along with their favourites and interact with the people that bring them to life. Getting up close and personal with the finest whiskies in the world and their ambassadors is a fabulous way to spend a few hours.”

Brands taking part include Isle of Arran, Auchentoshan, The Balvenie, Basil Hayden’s, Bowmore, Breckenridge, Glen Grant, Glenfiddich and Glenmorangie.

An array of spirits industry luminaries will host masterclasses and VIP tasting events, including Jonathan Wingo of The Balvenie, David Blackmore of Glenmorangie, David Perkins of High West Distillery, Bruce Russell of Russell’s Reserve.
