Thomas Dakin launches airport pop-up

A month of Thomas Dakin Gin activity will begin at Heathrow Airport after a successful launch at Manchester Airport.

The successful pop-up bar served ‘Tom & Tonics’ and ‘Manchester Bee’ cocktails at Manchester Airport’s Terminal 1

The recent pop-up bar in the Biza Tax & Duty Free store at Manchester’s Terminal 1 was one of the store’s most successful spirits activations to date, with the brand now set to launch in Heathrow Airport from early August.

The Thomas Dakin Bar served signature ‘Tom & Tonics’ and ‘Manchester Bee’ cocktails to travellers during June.

The pop-up bar is part of an integrated plan in travel retail to showcase the small-batch gin to travellers in key airports across Europe.

David Hume from Thomas Dakin Distillers said: “Working in partnership with our friends at Biza Tax & Duty Free, we have been overwhelmed by the positive response to Thomas Dakin by travellers using Manchester Airport. The distinctive packaging, taste and local roots of our gin have been a real hit with local, national and international travellers, as illustrated by our record sales, and we look forward to building on this success with Biza Tax & Duty Free in the months ahead.”

Nigel Sandals, liquor category buying manager for World Duty Free in the UK, said: “The gin category continues to go from strength to strength, so this was absolutely the right time to introduce a local, artisan gin with a strong regional connection to Manchester Airport.  It has been extremely well received and we look forward to doing more with Thomas Dakin.”

Thomas Dakin is on sale in all three Manchester Airport Terminals, the brand will continue to focus and place investment in Manchester as it’s home airport.
