R&B unveils Scotch crafted from historic recipes
By Annie HayesR&B Distillers is readying to introduce The Tweeddale: The Last Centennial – a new blended malt Scotch whisky inspired by 19th century whisky ‘recipes’ – in time for the festive season.
The new whisky is inspired by 19th Century whisky ‘recipes’R&B Distillers co-founder, Alasdair Day, has been recreating his great-grandfather’s 19th century whisky recipes since 2009.
The final page of recipes was penned in 1916, making 2016 the centennial anniversary of the final entry.
In celebration of this historic event, R&B Distillers borrowed elements from a number of recipes in the book to create The Tweeddale: The Last Centennial.
Described as “smooth and complex”, the expression is a blend of four single cask single malts predominantly from Islay, with “plenty of Highland” and “dash of Speyside”.
The Last Centennial is non-chill filtered and bottled at 52.2% abv, and will retail for RRP: £140.
In February this year, R&B Distillers was given the green light to build the first legal distillery on the Isle of Raasay in Scotland’s Inner Hebrides.
