Opihr World Adventure 2016 picks up pace

The annual Opihr World Adventure Cocktail Competition has attracted a strong number of UK entrants, while there’s still time for bartenders from a number of markets to take part.

Opihr World Adventure Cocktail Competition returns for 2016 – and there’s still time for most markets to take part

An opportunity for bartenders from around the world to secure a trip to Marrakech, the Opihr World Adventure Cocktail Competition challenges entrants to produce a “delicious” creation capable of “transporting” judges on a journey of taste.

Decided at a series of regional heats, finalists will travel to Morocco for three nights of immersive experiences, including the cocktail competition itself.

The overall winner will win the opportunity to produce a limited edition batch of Opihr Gin with master distiller, Joanne Moore, to be sold exclusively within finalist bars around the world.

Last year, American bartender Mariena Mercer stormed to victory with her drink Classy Lassi – a play on the Indian lassi milkshake.

While UK entries have closed, bartenders from Ireland, USA, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal have until 31 August to get their entries in. Further details can be found at Opihr.com.
