Jack Daniel’s launches 150th anniversary whiskey

Brown-Forman-owned Jack Daniel’s has unveiled a limited edition whiskey in celebration of its 150th anniversary, created by master distiller Jeff Arnett.

Created by master distiller Jeff Arnett, the 150th anniversary edition offers notes of “butterscotch” and “toffee”

In January this year, Jack Daniel’s announced a series of events and activities to celebrate the milestone, including a renovation of its Lynchburg distillery and the release of limited edition bottles.

The new anniversary whiskey, created by master distiller Jeff Arnett, has a unique taste profile that combines the distillery’s whiskey-making tradition with the artistry of modern-day craftsmanship.

The 150th anniversary edition offers notes of “butterscotch” and “toffee” upon first taste followed by a full, smooth and lingering finish with warm flavours of toasted oak.

The grain bill for the special whiskey is the same as Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7, consisting of 80% corn, 12% barley and 8% rye.

Arnett said: “For this 150th anniversary whiskey, our coopers ‘slow-toasted’ the barrels to bring out the rich flavours and aromas of the wood, creating a contemporary expression of an 1866 barrel char.

“We wanted to offer a unique whiskey that we think collectors and consumers alike will enjoy for their own celebrations and is as special as the anniversary that it celebrates.”

The 150th anniversary whiskey will be available 1 September with a suggested retail price of US$99.99 for a 1 litre bottle.

Continuing the 150th anniversary celebrations, Jack Daniels unveiled a new virtual reality tour at its distillery in Lynchburg in July.
