By Amy HopkinsEarlier this week, The Spirits Business and London venue Mews of Mayfair staged the inaugural Great British Summer Cocktail Competition.
Mews of Mayfair’s Lounge bar provided an atmospheric setting for the inaugural Great British Summer Cocktail CompetitionTen finalist cocktails that claimed to encapsulate the “ultimate taste of summer” were tasted by consumers and peers in the trade, with the Staibano Basil Sour selected as the overall winner at the end of the night.
Created using a combination of Staibano liqueur, gin, fresh lemon juice, sugar syrup and egg white with a basil leaf garnish, the serve will feature as Mews of Mayfair’s ‘Cocktail of the Month’.

A raft of consumer cocktail lovers and trade members attended the inaugural Great British Summer Cocktail Competition at Mew of Mayfair’s stylish and atmospheric Lounge bar, full of cosy nooks for imbibers to enjoy and assess the competing serves.
Guests were given ticket stubs, permitting them any three of the 10 cocktails on offer. Ticket stubs for each ordered cocktail were kept safely and counted at the end of the night. The winner was selected by the highest number of orders at the bar….
WINNER: Staibano Basil Sour
