Cocktail created in honour of Olympic medallist

A café in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, has launched a cocktail in celebration of the achievements of swimmer and Olympic gold medallist, Adam Peaty, who hails from the town.

Uttoxeter swimmer Adam Peaty won the Gold medal in the 100m breaststroke

Liaisons Licensed Lounge in Uttoxeter has created an exclusive cocktail, known as the ‘Peaty Gold’, after Peaty won the Gold medal at the Rio Olympics and set world records for the 100m breaststroke.

The cocktail is based on the tipple Peaty enjoys in his home town when not training, and contains gold flakes and Prosecco.

Sue Hunter, a partner at Liaisons Licensed Lounge told The Uttoxeter Advertiser: “We wanted to do something to recognise the hard work and dedication Adam had put in to achieve his fantastic achievement. Along with the rest of Uttoxeter, David, myself and our team are all so proud of him.”

Hunter explained that she had spoken with Rich Peaty, Adam’s brother who told her his favourite drink and she used that as the base for the drink.

The cocktail will be available at Liaisons once Peaty has returned to Uttoxeter.
