Alvino’s scoops Chairman’s Reserve Mai Tai title
By Kristiane SherryNewcastle-based bar Alvino’s has triumphed in the 2016 Chairman’s Reserve Mai Tai UK cocktail competition, hosted by Emporia Brands and St Lucia Distillers.
Alvino’s bar was named the champion of the Chairman’s Reserve cocktail competition with this twist on the Mai TaiBars from across the country were invited to submit an original twist on the Mai Tai cocktail, using two of the Chairman’s Reserve rum expressions.
Shortlisted entries were then featured in a nationwide promotion during June and July, where bars were given marketing support to promote their Mai Tai serves through social media activity and in-venue deals.
The four most successful bars – Mahiki of London, The Bureau of Birmingham, Trading House, also of London, and Alvino’s – gathered in London for the finals, held at The Magic Roundabout in London on 9 August.
A “VIP crowd” was on-hand forming “the biggest Mai Tai party of the summer”, with Alvino’s ultimately crowned the winner for its team’s Chairman’s Reserve Mai Tai – see below for the recipe.
Alvino’s now received a training visit for two to St Lucia as part of the brand’s Chairman’s XI programme.
