Tobermory kicks off limited edition range

Mull-based Scotch whisky distillery Tobermory has released the first two of six single malts, the collection of which gives consumers the chance to win a 42-year-old expression.

Tobermory 20YO is one of the first releases from a six-strong collection

Tobermory 18-Year-Old Bourbon Cask and Tobermory 20-Year-Old Sherry Cask are the first in the Germany-exclusive series from the Distell-owned distillery.

The malts include a collector’s leaflet with tear-off tables. Purchasers can collect the tab from each of the six whiskies in order to enter a draw for the opportunity to win one of only 650 bottles of Tobermory 42-Year-Old, priced at £2,500.

Priced at RRP £100, Tobermory 18-Year-Old Bourbon Cask is said to have a “light, fresh and floral” nose and an “oaky, sea salt character” with “maple syrup” on the palate and a finish of “sweet liquorice” and “cinnamon”.

Tobermory 20-Year-Old Sherry Cask, priced at RRP £120, offers a “rich, warm nose” with a “deep rich oak” palate and a “lingering sweet” finish with “Christmas spice” notes.

Both whiskies are bottled at 46.3% abv.

“The two latest single malt releases are certain to appeal to those who appreciate the craftsmanship and passion that go into every single bottle of Tobermory,” said Alison Gibb, global marketing manager for Distell’s malts portfolio.

“The Tobermory 18-Year-Old Bourbon Cask and 20-Year-Old Sherry Cask epitomise the flavour, aroma and character which make Tobermory such a unique Hebridean whisky. As one of the oldest commercial distilleries still in operation, the latest editions offer whisky fans, collectors and connoisseurs alike the chance to experience the taste of our small batch releases.”

Tobermory released its 42-Year-Old edition in global travel retail last month.
