Restaurant creates burger with Bourbon shot in the bun

In a bid to capitalise on the latest ‘food porn’ trend, a restaurant in Sydney has launched a burger with a shot of Bulleit Bourbon inside the bun.

The Bourbon Burgel is now available at Sydney restaurant Chicken and Sons

The new concoction, named The Bourbon Burgel, is encased in a sesame bagel rather than a bun – hence the name – and is the creation of Adam Spencer, owner and chef at Chicken and Sons in Surry Hills, Sydney.

Limited to two per diner, the AUS$22 meal contains an Angus beef patty, yankee cheese, pickles, special sauce, Bourbon-glazed bacon, jalapeños and house Bourbon bbq sauce.

It is served with beer battered fries, and topped with a shot of Bulleit Bourbon.

Spencer told The Daily Mail that the idea to place Bourbon inside the bun of the burger came from a series of recent alcohol-inspired burger experiments, including Jack Daniel’s-glazed bacon.

He added: “It’s a really traditional American cheese burger – it’s a great mix of salty and sweet.”
