Popcorn Sutton appoints master blender
By Annie HayesPopcorn Sutton Distilling has named former distiller for Diageo’s George Dickel Distillery Allis Henley as master blender.
Popcorn Sutton Original Small Batch Recipe is one of the products the distillery currently producesHenley worked based in the Tullahoma, Tennessee-based distillery for more than 11 years in a variety of positions – most recently as the facility’s Distiller.
During her time there she worked on George Dickel’s Barrel Select Tennessee Whiskey, Rye Whisky and Single Barrel products.
She also launched and maintained the brand’s consumer experience center and discovered a “rare” 17 year-old limited edition Tennessee whiskey.
Prior to this, she attended the Stave & Thief Society Executive Bourbon Steward program, and is accredited as a Master of Whiskey.
The move to Popcorn Sutton Distilling, which is based in Newport, Tennessee, reunites Henley with master distiller John R. Lunn, who she worked alongside in her former post.
Henley said: “I am looking forward to working with the team to create and successfully bring to market a variety of innovative and unique premium quality spirits products.”
The distillery plans to expand its portfolio with the addition of premium “craft” gins later this summer.
“I am so pleased to have individuals of John and Allisa’s caliber on our team,” said Popcorn Sutton Distilling CEO Megan Kvamme.
“Their passion for authenticity and quality is a perfect fit for our organization and mission. I know their history together, complimentary skill sets, and collaboration moving forward will result in many creative things to come.”
