Online auction house Catawiki offers rare whiskies
Catawiki, touted as “Europe’s fastest-growing” online auction house, is hosting an exclusive whisky auction featuring “ultra-rare” bottlings, such as a Port Ellen from 1978.
Port Ellen 27 Year Old 1978 features in Catawiki’s latest auctionEnding Monday, the auction offers a number of whiskies from distilleries around the world.
Catawiki will feature Balvenie Tun 1858 batch 1 to batch 4 – the Asia alternative to Balvenie Tun 1401 which are usually only available in Asia – and Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2012.
Other lots in the auction include Port Ellen 27 Year Old 1978, bottled by Douglas Laing in 2006; Strathisla 1960, Gordon & McPhail; and Johnnie Private House Zodiac Monkey Number 1 of 100, which is only usually available in Asia.
“The current exclusive whisky auction on Catawiki is a treasure trove of ultra-rare bottles from across the globe,” said Daniel Elswood, Catawiki’s wine auctioneer.
“Many of the whiskies featured are part of limited edition collections where only a handful of bottles still exist. Despite the rarity of the whisky, buyers can still get their hands on a bottle for a very affordable price.”
