By Amy HopkinsA panel of expert judges has selected 10 cocktail recipes to be served at the grand finale of the Great British Summer Cocktail Competition at Mews of Mayfair next month.
Judges have selected 10 recipes to go through to the final round of the Great British Summer Cocktail CompetitionLaunched as part of a collaboration between The Spirits Business and leading London bar Mews of Mayfair, the competition saw brands across the spectrum of spirit categories submit cocktail recipes that they believe encapsulate the “ultimate taste of summer”.
This week, a group of judges selected the 10 most innovative and exciting recipes which will be served during a consumer event at Mews of Mayfair on the evening of Tuesday 9 August.
During the evening, each guest will have the opportunity to taste any three of the 10 final recipes and will be asked to vote for their favourite. The winning cocktail of the competition will take pride of place on Mews of Mayfair’s menu as its cocktail of the month.
The panel of expert judges for the first round of the competition consisted of Sophie Bratt, bar manager at OXO Tower Brasserie; Luca Cordiglieri, president of the UKBG; Shayan Sanyal, bar partnerships director at BarChick; Alex Spencer, Lounge Bar manager at Mews of Mayfair; Murray Alexander, bar manager at The Little Yellow Door; and Amy Hopkins, deputy editor of The Spirits Business.
“A lot of the cocktails here really piqued my curiosity and I really liked the stories behind some of the serves,” said Sanyal. “I’m really looking forward to trying them on the night.”
