Campari releases Contemporary Classics Compendium
By Annie HayesCampari has unveiled The Contemporary Classics Compendium – a compilation of contemporary Negroni, Americano and Boulevardier serves created by 66 bartenders hailing from across the globe.
The book aims to encapsulate the trends surrounding modern mixologyBuilding on the success of last year’s release The Worldwide Negroni Compendium, the brand has extended its focus to celebrate other Campari-centric cocktails.
Featuring 70 cocktails submitted by bartenders in 41 countries, the book aims to encapsulate the trends surrounding modern mixology – from unusual ingredients and techniques to adaptations on classics and multi sensory drinking experiences.
According to the brand, the recent resurgence of the Negroni has paved the way for the rediscovery of other classic Campari cocktails such as the Americano, which was the first cocktail to be ordered by fictional British Secret Service agent James Bond, and Boulevardier, which is recognised for its link to renowned bartender Harry McElhone – the founder of Harry’s Bar in Paris.
Nick Williamson, marketing director at Campari UK, said: “The flair and creativity shown in each bartender reinterpretation of these iconic recipes is testament to the classic cocktail renaissance and all that it stands for.
“We were overwhelmed by the response and are delighted to bring the Negroni, Americano and Boulevardier back into the spotlight on a global scale, where they rightly belong. We hope that The Contemporary Classics stands to inspire and delight Campari fans and bartenders alike, building on a heritage which has led to these contemporary classics being so widely enjoyed and cherished.”
Each of the 70 recipe reinterpretations will be shared via Campari’s social media channels throughout the course of the year.
