Tullamore DEW breaks ice in Swedish bars

Irish whiskey brand Tullamore DEW will help drinkers “break the ice” in bars across Stockholm with a machine that creates personalised drinks based on information from Facebook.

The Icebreaker Machine mixes a unique drink based on information from Facebook

The William Grant & Sons-owned brand created The Icebreaker Machine in collaboration with Swedish inventor, Andreas Hammar.

The machine mixes users a unique drink and names the creation based on information from their Facebook feed, for example ‘Twin Peaks Zara Larsson SXSW Dew’ – intended to be the topic of conversation.

There are 5,000 potential drink combinations available, and while the machine is set to tour bars in Stockholm, Sweden, the concept is also available digitally here.

“We believe that the Swedes, for once, can be inspired by the Irish – where the pub is more like a living room and the conversations flowing. We hope that our Icebreaker Machine can inspire unexpected and new conversations in the bar. And, of course, offer personalised and delicious drinks”, said Oscar J T Holm, William Grant & Sons Nordic marketing and communication manager.

The machine is set to “put an end to awkward conversations” in Stockholm’s bars throughout June.
