Gruppo Montenegro and Cuervo ink Italy deal
By Kristiane SherryItalian spirit and food manufacturer Gruppo Montenegro has finalised an agreement with Jose Cuervo to exclusively handle its distribution in Italy.

“Distribution of this portfolio represents a great opportunity as well as an exciting challenge for our group, as we strive to make full use of the growth potential of these great brands.
“We’re confident that our distribution and strategic capabilities will allow us to seize on all opportunities”.
The distribution agreement comes into effect on 1 July, and will give Gruppo Montenegro a “synergic and complementary portfolio” and the opportunity to further consolidate its leadership in the Italian market, added the company.
Gruppo Montenegro was founded in 1885 and owns brands including Amaro Montenegro and Vecchia Romagna brandy.
Mexico-based Jose Cuervo is currently the subject of IPO rumours, and is reportedly seeking to raise up to US$1 billion through an offering in the third quarter.
