Breakthru expands with Arizona acquisition

Newly formed US distributor Breakthru Beverage Group has become the full owner of Arizona-based Alliance Beverage Distributing Company after acquiring Glazer’s 50% share.

Breakthru Beverage Group, created following the merger of US drinks distribution heavyweights Charmer Sunbelt and Wirtz Beverage last year, acquired the stake owned by rival Glazer’s for an undisclosed sum.

Simultaneously, the group has sold its minority interests in Alliance Beverage of Mississippi and Alliance Beverage of Alabama to Glazer’s.

From 1 July, the Alliance Beverage Distributing Company will be renamed Breakthru Beverage Arizona. Gary Lederer has been appointed to lead the operation.

“Breakthru Beverage Arizona with its significant operations and 550 associates will bring tremendous assets and provide an undeniable advantage to Breakthru Beverage Group,” the company said.
