Bache-Gabrielsen American Oak is the first Cognac from the firm aged in American oak barrelsThe Cognac house will launch American Oak in the US, marking the first time the family-owned brand has aged Cognac in American oak barrels.
Master blender Jean-Philippe Bergier worked alongside the firm’s cooperage to select the “best oak” for this variant, which has been aged in French oak barrels before finishing for at least six months in new Tennessee oak barrels.
It is described as having aromas of ripe apricot, pear and vanilla with flavours of coconut, caramel and chocolate on the palate.
“We’ve spent over a century perfecting our taste and expanding our offerings,” said Hervé Bache-Gabrielsen, company president.
“Bringing my family business to a critical market like the United States is a milestone for the brand, and we felt releasing American Oak was not only fitting for the occasion, but is evidence of our mission to consistently innovate while still honouring the tradition of this cherished spirit.”
Bottled at 40% abv, American Oak is currently being rolled out nationwide and will be available at an RRP of US$39.99.
Bache-Gabrielsen has also launched the VSOP and XO expressions from its Natur & Eleganse collection.
