Scots distillers sign £300k deal with Asda
Three Scottish distillers – Edinburgh Gin, Tullibardine Distillery and Valt Vodka – have signed contracts worth £300,000 with supermarket chain Asda Scotland.
Asda Scotland has upped its focus on homegrown products after signing deals with three Scottish distillers
Perthshire whisky distillery Tullibardine has secured an exclusive deal with Asda to launch its new Highland Single Malt Sherry Finish Whisky, which will be available in 50 stores across Scotland.
Produced by Strathleven Distillers, Valt Vodka is a described as the “world’s first single malt Scottish vodka” which exclusively uses Scottish malted barley. It will be available in 40 Scottish Asda stores.
Edinburgh Gin, produced by the Spencerfield Spirit Company, will be available in 55 stores, in addition to its Edinburgh Rhubarb & Ginger Gin liqueur, which is now exclusive to Asda.
“With sales of gin predicted to reach over £1bn by the end of 2016 and the whisky and vodka sectors continuing to perform well, it’s clear that consumers’ taste palates are becoming increasingly sophisticated,” said Heather Turnbull, regional buyer for Asda Scotland.
“By launching equally sophisticated spirits such as Tullibardine, Valt and Edinburgh Gin in Asda stores across Scotland, it will now mean that more consumers than ever before can enjoy a truly Scottish drinking experience.”
