By Amy HopkinsWilliam Grant & Sons has updated the packaging design for its Glenfiddich 21 Year Old Gran Reserva single malt expression.
Glenfiddich 21 Year Old Gran Reserva now features refreshed packagingThe group will also release a 20cl version of the whisky, which is finished in Caribbean rum casks for four months.
Glenfiddich 21 Year Old Gran Reserva now features a “richly coloured box” with gold foil detail, a charcoal interior and “innovative finishing techniques”. This latest redesign comes less than one year after the same expression was given a packaging update to reflect its “exotic Caribbean notes”.
“Laying this expression down for 21 years in our warehouse leads to a remarkably intense flavour, and the liquid is infused with further complexity during its final few months,” said Brian Kinsman, Glenfiddich malt master.
“The Caribbean rum finish rouses a vibrant, spicy warmth within the whisky and draws out soft yet lively fruity notes on the palate. Adding an innovative final production method is testament to Glenfiddich’s continued quest for perfection.
“Our rum finish gives the liquid extra layers of intensity and an extraordinary twist that truly sets the 21 Year Old apart from other whiskies.”
Bottled at 40% abv, Glenfiddich 21 Year Old Gran Reserva’s 70cl format is priced £135, while the 20cl format carries an RRP of £45.
In September 2015, Glenfiddich’s core 12 and 15 Year Old variants also received packaging updates, featuring a “more confident and dominant” stag.
