Beam Suntory GTR releases Japanese single grain

Available for the first time outside of Japan, Beam Suntory GTR will release The Chita, a no-age-statement Suntory single grain whisky, into select travel retail markets.

Beam Suntory is to release single grain The Chita into select TR markets

Described as a “versatile spirit with a smooth and floral taste profile”, The Chita was produced using “diverse unblended whisky brewing techniques” at The Chita distillery in the Aichi Prefecture.

Made as “Dashi”, a Japanese broth used across Suntory’s whisky portfolio, The Chita has given nosing and tasting notes of cardamom, honey, blossoming rose and spiced oak.

“The Chita is a perfectly balanced Japanese whisky that reflects the artistry and diversity of The House of Suntory Whisky,” said Michael Cockram, global marketing director, travel retail at Beam Suntory.

“With our rich history of innovation and award-winning Japanese releases, global travel retail will continue to be a priority platform to showcase innovative new products from the Beam Suntory portfolio to the rest of the world.”

Previously only available in the Japanese domestic market, The Chita will roll out in Asia Pacific and European travel retail, plus limited quantities in Americas travel retail, in July 2016.

The Chita carries an RRP of US$55 for a 70cl bottle, presented in an indigo blue gift box.
