Vulson launches aged French rye in UK

French Alps-based distillery Domaine des Hautes Glaces has launched an aged version of its organic Vulson White Rhino Rye in the UK.

Vulson Old Rhino Rye whisky has been created at a sustainable farm distillery in the French Alps

Made from malted rye grown on-site at the distillery’s farm, Vulson Old Rhino Rye has been matured for one year in French new oak casks and three years in Cognac casks.

The expression, an extension of the Vulson White Rhino Rye brand, is said to have a “very mineral taste” with spicy notes of gingerbread.

“It is an exciting new step for our young brand – since we launched Vulson White Rhino Rye, our supporters have been asking when would the aged one be released,” said Xavier Padovani, William Grant & Sons’ former global brand ambassador for Hendrick’s Gin who launched Vulson White Rhino Rye in collaboration with Domaine des Hautes Glaces.

“The Old Rhino is now out, and we look forward to the industry’s feedback. Vulson Old Rhino Rye is the long awaited aged version of its younger brother, Vulson White Rhino Rye – a spirit that is created at a small sustainable farm distillery located 1000m in the French Alps.”

Bottled at 45% abv without chill-filtration, Vulson Old Rhino Rye is available for sale at The Whisky Exchange for £57.95.

Vulson White Rhino Rye, described as a “rye eau de vie” and “French moonshine”, first launched in the UK in 2014.
