TFWA has announced that the third China’s Century Conference will take place in Guangzhou
Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Co. is the event’s official host, which will be held at the Four Season Hotel.
“Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Co is delighted to be the official host for next year’s TFWA China’s Century Conference,” a spokesperson from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Co said.
“As the premier event for the duty free and travel retail industry in China, the conference brings together all the major companies involved in the market, and we believe Guangzhou is the perfect venue for such a gathering.
“Our city is one of the historic centres of trade in China and is attracting increasing numbers of business and leisure travellers, partly thanks to the efforts we are making to develop Guangzhou Baiyun as an international hub airport. We are confident this conference will be a big success and we look forward to welcoming delegates to our airport and to this vibrant city.”
Erik Juul-Mortensen, TFWA president, added: “TFWA China’s Century Conference is an essential diary date for anyone interested in the considerable commercial opportunities the Chinese market presents, as well as all those who want to gain a deeper understanding of the Chinese traveller both at home and outside China.”
The third-largest city in China, Guangzhou has played a pivotal role in the country’s economic development. Its Central Business District, the area where TFWA China’s Century will be held, underwent major renovation ahead of the 2010 Asian Games, and the city now boasts a rapidly developing international airport.
TFWA held the first China’s Century Conference in Beijing in 2013, followed by the Shanghai event in 2015, which attracted 388 delegates. Delegates included airports, airlines, retailers, researchers, academics, authors and specialist consultancies.
The next event in the TFWA calendar is the TFWA Asia Pacific Conference & Exhibition, set to take place in Singapore from 8-12 May 2016.
