Moët Hennessy backs ‘first’ zero fuel plane

Moët Hennessy has reaffirmed its support for Solar Impulse – the “world’s first” zero-fuel plane which is undertaking an around-the-world flight powered solely by solar energy.

Solar Impulse landed in Moffett Airfield in Mountain View, California last Saturday

The wine and spirits division of LVMH is an official partner of the project, and has pledged to be “with the Solar Impulse team every step of the way to celebrate every challenge and every success”.

Solar Impulse is the only airplane with “almost unlimited endurance”, capable of flying day and night without fuel and without emissions

Last Saturday at 11:44pm, the aircraft landed in Moffett Airfield in Mountain View, California after crossing the Pacific Ocean in two days, traveling from Hawaii and breaking several world records along the way.
Upon landing Piccard and co-pilot Andre Borschberg were congratulated with a jeroboam bottle of Moët & Chandon Champagne and greeted with cheers from supporters.
Solar Impulse is presently situated at Moffett Airfield where it is preparing for its journey onwards to Phoenix and finally New York’s JFK Airport, where it will complete its mission of the first solar flight around the world.

By supporting the project, Moët Hennessy hopes to raise awareness of the potential of renewable energy sources while reaffirming its environmental policy, which covers seven key areas: sustainable agriculture, energy, water and effluents, waste and recycling, ecological design, green supply chain and responsible providers.
“The success of our brands has always been inspired by noble human adventures,” said Christophe Navarre, chairman and CEO of Moët Hennessy.
