MoM releases single cask English whiskies
By Amy HopkinsIndependent online retailer Master of Malt has added four bottlings from the English Whisky Company to its Single Cask Series.
Master of Malt’s Single Cask Series now features bottlings from the English Whisky CompanyAged between five and seven years, the single cask whiskies have been created by the English Whisky Company – which became the first English whisky producer in 100 years when the firm began production at Norfolk-based St. George’s Distillery in 2006.
English Whisky Co. 7 Year Old 2008 Cask B1/490 (£67.95) has been aged in Bourbon casks and is said to have a “buttery, vanilla-rich” flavour.
English Whisky Co. 5 Year Old 2010 Cask B2/OLO (£67.95) has been aged in oloroso Sherry casks, which impart a flavour of “sultana and Christmas spice”.
The series also includes a peated expression, English Whisky Co. Heavily Peated 5 Year Old 2010 Cask B1/286 (£67.95), which has been matured in casks that once held Bourbon whisky.
Showing off a “more fruit-forward” side to the brand is the Bourbon barrel-matured English Whisky Co. 7 Year Old 2008 Cask B1/491 (£69.95).
The B2/OLO and BI/491 whiskies feature Master of Malt’s “experimental” new glass closures. Last April, the retailer launched the world’s first single malt whiskies with glass closures – said to “make cork taint in single malt whiskies a thing of the past”.
The latest English whisky editions to Master of Malt’s Single Cask Series have been bottled at cask strengths of between 65% and 67% abv.
