Devon’s first whisky distillery seeks funding

Two entrepreneurs are launching a Kickstarter campaign in an effort to raise £25,000 to open the first whisky distillery in Devon, UK.

Greg Millar and Simon Crow, co-founder of the Dartmoor Whisky Distillery

Founders Greg Millar and Simon Crow plan to open the Dartmoor Whisky Distillery in the Old Town Hall in Bovey Terrace, situated on the edge of Dartmoor, and have already bought a copper Cognac still.

With the help of master distiller Frank McHardy, the trio plans to create a “darker, wine-influenced” whisky made with Dartmoor barley and spring water.

“We have 45 days to raise an ambitious £25,000,” commented Greg Millar, co-founder. “This will purchase the beer wash for our first distillations.

“We have some attractive rewards on offer, from Dartmoor Distillery whisky glasses, through to making your own barrel of whisky.

“We welcome everyone and anyone to be part of our exciting Kickstarter project.”

Dartmoor Whisky Distillery’s Kickstarter campaign will begin on 4 May and will remain open for 45 days. Various rewards are being offered in exchange for pledges between £5 and £5,000.

Investors can find more details by visiting the distillery website at www.dartmoorwhiskydistillery.co.uk or the Kickstarter, which goes live on May 4: www.kickstarter.com/dartmoorwhiskydistillery.
