Glenlivet creates whisky for airport’s centenary

Chivas Brothers-owned single malt Scotch brand The Glenlivet has released a 17-year-old single cask expression to mark the 100th anniversary of Edinburgh Airport.

Chivas Brothers has released The Glenlivet Alt nan Seileach Single Cask Edition exclusively for World Duty Free to mark Edinburgh Airport’s 100th anniversary

Bottled at natural cask strength of 58.1% abv without chill filtration, The Glenlivet Alt nan Seileach Single Cask Edition is said to “encapsulate the spirit of the Scottish landscape”.

The liquid is from cask number 83014, which was bottled on 13/3/2013 according to label details.

Alt nan Seileach was produced exclusively for World Duty Free’s Edinburgh store, where it will be displayed on a large-scale stand alongside The Glenlivet Master Distiller’s Reserve and the Nàdurra range. The display is accompanied by brand visuals and gifting initiatives.

“World Duty Free at Edinburgh Airport has one of the best whisky collections anywhere in the world so it is great to have The Glenlivet Alt nan Seileach Single Cask exclusive to our store – especially as it is dedicated to our airport’s 100th birthday celebrations,” said Gordon Dewar, Edinburgh Airport’s chief executive.

“Edinburgh Airport was recently awarded a Provenance Award for our commitment to offering Scottish Food and Drink and this new addition to our extensive range builds on our reputation of celebrating the very best of Scottish produce.”

Alt nan Seileach is part of the brand’s global travel retail Single Cask Edition series, with each cask exclusive to a particular market. The American and European oak releases are intended to offer insight into the provenance and production of the distillery’s “smooth, floral, fruity house style”.

The Glenlivet Alt nan Seileach Single Cask Edition is available now exclusively at World Duty Free’s Edinburgh Airport store with an RRP of £250.

Last year, The Glenlivet overtook Glenfiddich to become the largest single malt Scotch brand in the world by volume.
