Teeling unveils ‘first’ white Port finished whiskey

The Teeling Whiskey Company has launched 12 single barrel bottlings and become the “first” whiskey distiller to use ex-white Port barrels for finishing.

Teeling’s Single Barrel series is the “first” whiskey to be finished in ex-white Port barrels

Released in time for St Patrick’s Day on 17 March, the range comprises 12 individual casks of Teeling Irish single malt whiskey that have been bottled by hand for on- and off-trade establishments in the US.

The 2016 US Single Barrel collection features a 13-year-old single malt Irish whiskey distilled in 2002 and first matured in ex-Bourbon barrels for 12 years, before finishing exclusively in ex-white Port barrels from Carcavelos, Portugal.

The expression is said to have a “beautiful light fragrant fruity flavour” that complements the underlying characteristics of Irish Whiskey.

Each bottle of whiskey is numbered, hand filled, non-chill-filtered and bottled at cask strength of 59.7% abv.

Jack Teeling, founder of the Teeling Whiskey Company, said: “We are delighted to be able to release such unique and innovative expressions of Teeling whiskey in the US for St Patrick’s Day.

“In conjunction with some of the leading US retailers we continue to drive the choice and breadth of offerings for Irish whiskey drinkers.”

Teeling’s Single Barrel Series has an RRP of US$85 per 750ml bottle.

It will be available from select stores in the following states in the lead-up to St Patrick’s Day: Nevada, Colorado, Texas, Illinois, Kentucky, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Florida, New York and New Jersey.
