Specialty Drinks intros peated blended malt

Speciality Brands has launched a new blended malt expression, PeatThe first ongoing release in the Elements of Islay Range, Peat is blended from liquid produced at a “handful” of Islay’s distilleries.
According to the brand, the malts were married together to take on distinct characters from each distillery and focus on Islay’s “most famous element”, Peat.
Giving nosing and tasting notes include peat smoke, salty seaweed, lemon, lime, grapefruit, licorice, thick-cut bacon, sweet apple, dark chocolate, and lapsang souchong tea.
Serving suggestions include on its own, in a cocktail, or with soda and ice.
Peat is bottled at 59.3% abv and retails at £35 for a 50cl format.
Speciality Drinks launched Elements of Islay in 2006 as a range to “celebrate the core characteristics that make Islay whisky special”. A symbol is used to identify each distillery, with the single malts either bottled as a single cask or in small batches of between five and 20 casks.
