Great British gin aperitif launches in UK
By Melita KielyAs the British weather begins to warm up, a new gin aperitif has launched in the UK through Harvey Nichols, called The Wingfield.
The Wingfield is a gin-based aperitifThe “great British gin aperitif” is available to purchase in Harvey Nichols stores from today, Thursday 3 March, and has been created by bartenders at Pontoon.
The “contemporary” aperitif is made from a secret recipe comprising a small batch London dry gin, cucumber, pink grapefruit, elderflower, combined with other fruits and spices.
The Wingfield is being marketed as a “sophisticated alternative” to Pimm’s and Aperol and is described as “fresh and perfectly balanced”.
“Our namesake was an innovator too – major Walter Clopton Wingfield pioneered lawn tennis in the 1870s and changed the face of the British summer and we’d settle for nothing less,” commented Simon Weston, The Wingfield creator.
“The Wingfield is distinctly different. It’s a modern gin aperitif blended to have a unique signature.
“It tastes like a garden at dusk – clean and fresh with complex layers of quintessential summer flavours.
“I can’t think of a better way to enjoy an afternoon al fresco with a glass of what’s set to become an iconic British drink.”
Bottled at 23.3% abv, The Wingfield is available in all Harvey Nichols stores throughout the UK at an RRP of between £25.99 to £34.99 per 700ml bottle.
