The Campari UK subsidiary is celebrating its first anniversary
Prior to the 2012 acquisition of its Jamaican rum business, Campari traded its products through local distributors in the UK.
When company integrated the existing UK J. Wray & Nephew team, there was deemed enough “critical mass” to start direct trading on 1 March 2015.
From 1 January 2016, business has been conducted under the trading name Campari UK, in line with other group subsidiaries.
The UK team now employs 40 staff from 10 different nationalities, and carries responsibility for the sales and marketing of the Campari brand portfolio in the country.
“We’ve started a fantastic and exciting journey building our unique, premium brands,” said Nick Williamson, Campari UK marketing director.
“Our range of incomparable Italian aperitifs and bitters, Jamaican rums and American Bourbon, are the perfect fit for the sophisticated British palate, and we are excited to see the renaissance of classic cocktails in this market.”
Pietro Mattioni, MD of Campari UK, added: “Driven by our core values of passion, integrity, performance orientation and pragmatism, we aim to build, in the medium term, the most advocated range of premium spirit brands in the UK market.”
Earlier this week, Campari reported a 6.2% sales increase in its 2015 full-year financial statement, despite “weakness” in Russia.
