Bacardi explores rum in UK roundtable

The Bacardi Roundtable on Rum, chaired by The Spirits Business, will take place in London today, discussing the past, present and future of the category.

The Bacardi Carta collection of rums includes Carta Blanca (pictured), Carta Oro and Carta Negra.

Rum is the third biggest spirits category in the world, and is considered by many to be the bartenders’ preferred spirit for cocktails.

Despite enjoying steady growth over the past 10 years, the category remains largely under-premiumised.

The Bacardi Roundtable on Rum will explore the rum category in the UK, the progress it has made in recent years, the challenges it faces, and how it can thrive in the years to come.

Topics of discussion will also include the impact millennial tastes and trends will have on the rum category, the importance of ‘craft’, and how at-home consumption will change the trade.

Joining Kristiane Sherry, The Spirits Business editor, for the discussion is a panel of industry experts: Jane Ryan from DrinkupLDN, Sly Augustin from Trailer Happiness, Jamie Jones from Jason Atherton, Marcis Dzelzainis from Sager & Wilde, and Dan Waddy from Satan’s Whiskers.

The panel will also be joined by Bacardi representatives May Kongsrivilai and Sean Ware.

Follow the action live on Twitter from 12pm GMT using the hashtag #Bacardi, and don’t miss a full round-up in the May edition of The Spirits Business.
