Artesian Hong Kong creates art-inspired cocktails

The Artesian bar at The Langham, Hong Kong, has created a trio of cocktails inspired by famous artists Vincent van Gogh, Salvador Dali and Piet Mondrian.

Artesian Hong Kong has created three artistic cocktails, including this Van Gogh-inspired cocktail

Artesian bartender Rajendra ‘Rush’ Limbu has taken inspiration from three works of art and sketched his interpretation of the pieces on top of the cocktails.

The first concoction takes its inspiration from Van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night’, from 1889, which is portrayed on top of a blend of Chalong Bay rum, herbal Strega liqueur, Bittermens Xocolatl Bitters, fresh lime juice and a dash of Blue Caracao.

Surrealist artist Dali’s ‘The Persistence of Member’ from 1931 depicts a melting clock, which sits upon a mix of Los Danzantes Mezcal, Grand Marnier, Domaine de Canton, Fee Brothers Orange Bitters and orange juice.

The final cocktail in the collection is a “toast” to neoplasticism – an abstract style developed by Mondrian – and shows the artist’s ‘Tableau I’ from 1921.

The asymmetrical sketch decorates an aperitif of Saffron Gin, elderflower liqueur, Chartreuse, The Bitter Truth Lemon Bitters, fresh lemon juice and grenadine.

The menu will be available to purchase from 23 March to 30 April with each art-inspired cocktail priced at HK$158.
