The Whiskey Affair all set for first Brighton show
By Melita KielyFollowing the inaugural launch in London last year, whisky show The Whiskey Affair is readying to make its debut in Brighton with 60 brands on offer.
The Whiskey Affair hosted its first show in London last year and will take place in Brighton later this month
Set to take place in Otherplace at the Basement, Brighton, on Saturday 20 February, The Whiskey Affair was founded by Catherine Jackson and is aimed at both novice consumers and whisky connoisseurs alike.
The show will offer four “cashless bars” that will operate on tokens, which will be purchasable throughout the evening.
An array of whisky styles from American, Irish and Scotch to Japanese and Bourbon will be showcased throughout the night, including brands such as Bulleit Bourbon, Elijah Craig, Woodford Reserve, Balcones, Balblair, The Dalmore, Glenfarclas, Nikka, Few Spirits, Penderyn, Teeling and Tullamore Dew.
Visitors can purchase five tokens for £20, which will be stamped in exchange for the selected dram, while some rarer and more expensive drams of whisky may cost more than one token.
Cocktails, live music by local Brighton musician Jack Bevan and a free photobooth will also be available throughout the night.
“We had a really good turnout in London and everyone who was there was really helpful with giving us feedback about the event,” commented Jackson.
“Everyone seemed to really enjoy the night and we had around 150 guests, which was fantastic for our first event.
“I want to aim the show at a group of friends as opposed to other shows that charge £100 per ticket and are more targeted towards whisky aficionados.
“Even if you don’t know a huge amount about whisky, it’s a great and affordable opportunity to come with some friends, learn about the spirit and different brands, and find a style you like either through sipping them neat or in the cocktails we’ll be serving – it’s a really easy way to get into whisky.”
Tickets are available online at thewhiskeyaffair.co.uk and cost £10 plus booking fee, while drinks tokens can be purchased on the night.
The Whiskey Affair is planning to head to five other Southern England locations throughout 2016.
