The Balvenie serves up ‘craft’ with Michel Roux Jr
By Kristiane SherryWilliam Grant & Sons-owned single malt The Balvenie has partnered with award winning chef Michel Roux Jr to launch The Craftsmen’s Dinner, a series of six short films exploring ‘craftsmanship’.
The Balvenie has teamed up with chef Michel Roux Jr for a series of short filmsThe film series, the trailer for which has gone live today, depicts the two-Michelin starred chef meeting and discussing the skills of five craftspeople: one of the few remaining knife-makers in the UK, a music-loving salmon smoker, an organic farmer, a potter and a sparkling wine producer.
The series concludes with Michel preparing a ‘craftsmen’s dinner’ for the individuals, using contributions from each artist. The menu features the smoked salmon, with food served on the handmade plates.
Stories featured in the films include the tale of Ole Hansen, a salmon smoker who plays piano to his produce in the belief it will contribute to the taste.
“I have tremendous respect for people who dedicate the years required to mastering and perfecting their trade, so it was a fantastic experience to work with The Balvenie on this project, and to meet such talented individuals,” said Michel Roux Jr.
