Tequila Fortaleza rolls out across UK
By Annie HayesIndie Brands has been appointed as the UK distributor for Tequila Fortaleza, an “artisan” range made using a 100-year-old boiler from the former La Fortaleza distillery
Tequila Fortazela is made in the estate of Destilería La Fortaleza in Tequila; home to master distiller Guillermo Sauza’s family and their three distilleries for more than five generations.
In 1968, La Fortazela distillery was shut down and turned into a museum, and 34 years later, Guillermo reignited the 100-year-old boiler to craft Tequila Fortazela.
The three-part range is now set to hit the UK market following a distribution deal with specialist spirits distribution company, Indie Brands.
Fortazela Reposado is aged for six to nine months in charred oak barrels, and offers “warm nutty aromas with a lingering residual spice on the tongue”.
The final variant, Añejo, is aged for years in charred barrels, resulting in a “vanilla aroma” and “smooth and velvety feel” on the palate.
