Pogues Irish Whiskey heads to US
Following its initial launch in the UK last year, The Pogues Irish Whiskey is now available to purchase across the pond in the US.
The Pogues Irish Whiskey is now also available in the US
Created by West Cork Distillers, the whiskey is a blend of 50% 10-year-old single malt Irish whiskey aged in ex-Sherry casks, and 50% 5-7-year-old Irish grain whiskey aged in ex-Bourbon casks.
The variant is being imported to the US through MS Walker in time for St Patrick’s Day on 17 March next month.
“It’s been brilliant working with the team at West Cork Distillers in creating a whiskey that we all think reflects our spirit and energy, and that we all enjoy the taste of,” said Shane MacGowan along with Pogues band members, Jem Finer, Andrew Ranken, Spider Stacy, James Fearnley, Terry Woods and Darryl Hunt.
“It’s wonderful to add a product bearing our name to the ranks of great Irish whiskeys, and we think it will stand the test of time.”
The tasting notes are described as “full-bodied”, “sweet” and “smooth”, with aromas of malts and cracked nuts on the nose.
“The Pogues Irish Whiskey represents the ideal blending of tradition and quality from our friends at West Cork, and the rich Irish heritage and culture of the brand,” said Justin Shaw, VP of brand and market strategy at MS Walker.
“We can’t wait for American aficionados of the band and whiskey, new and old, to enjoy their first taste.”
Bottled at 40% abv, The Pogues Irish Whiskey is available in restaurants and retailers, and carries an RRP of US$39.99.
