Oban Little Bay NAS Scotch to launch in UK
By Melita KielyOban Distillery is readying to launch its no-age-statement Little Bay Scotch whisky in the UK later this month.
Oban Little Bay NAS Scotch whisky will launch in the UK on 15 FebruaryFirst launched in the US and EU duty-free last year, the latest expression from the distillery is set to go on sale in the UK from 15 February.
Oban Little Bay is first aged in refill casks with charred new oak cask ends, European Sherry oak and refill hogsheads, made mostly from American oak.
After maturation, the whiskies are then married together in 180L casks – the distillery’s smallest – to combine the flavours to deliver a “well-balanced, rounded and richer” single malt whisky.
Donald Colville, global malts ambassador for Diageo, described the expression as offering “beautiful orange notes” resultant of the fermentation process of the whisky.
“The unique and complex flavour of Oban Little Bay reflects its truly unique environment, nestled in between the cliffs and the sea of the west coast of Scotland,” commented Dr Craig Wilson, master blender.
“The distillery set up – dictated by bayside location and size, are entirely responsible for giving our whisky its very own taste of orange, gentle smoke, sea salt and honey.”
Bottled at 43% abv, Oban Little Bay will be available from The Whisky Exchange and The Whisky Shop at an RRP of £51per 750ml bottle.
