Conigliaro releases pre-mixed cocktail for retail sale

Renowned cocktail expert Tony Conigliaro has made his signature serve Classico Negroni available for sale online.

Tony Conigliaro has released a premixed negroni cocktail for retail sale

Conigliaro, who founded London cocktail bars 69 Colebrooke Row and Bar Termini, worked with his team at the Tony’s Drink Factory lab to bottle the drink.

Described as a “traditional blend” of London dry gin, Italian vermouth and Italian bitters, the Classico Negroni has been cooked sous-vide, or under vacuum, at a low temperature over several hours. The gentle heat is said to stimulate the breakdown of aromatic compounds in the liquid and speed up the ageing process. The resulting drink is described as “almost identical” to a bottle-aged cocktail.

Given tasting notes for Classico Negroni include “bitter and sweet, with hints of citrus fruits and botanicals”.

According to Conigliaro, Classico Negroni should be served straight from the freezer in a chilled glass with no ice.

The cocktail was first served at Bar Termini, and it was the demand from regulars that inspired the creation of the at-home version.

Conigliaro’s friend, noted tattoo artist and Bar Termini co-founder Mo Coppoletta, designed a hand-drawn label for the bottle.

The bar currently serves three further Negroni variations: Robusto, Rosato and Superiore. Conigliaro says he hopes to offer all four varieties to order online in the “near future”.

Tony Conigliaro’s Classico Negroni is bottled at 18.9% abv and is available online now with an RRP of £36.95. It is also available by the glass at Bar Termini.

In late 2015, Cellar Trends named premix cocktails as a trend to look out for this year.
