Callooh Callay to launch sister site Little Bat
By Melita KielyThe team behind London watering hole Callooh Callay will open a second bar later this month, called Little Bat.
Little Bat is the second venue from award-winning London bar, Callooh CallayJust like Callooh Callay, the new venue – located in Islington, North London – takes its inspiration from Lewis Carroll and is named after the author’s poem Twinkle Twinkle Little Bat.
The interior will feature a botanical garden with seating available at the bar, under the suspended library or in numerous booths towards the rear of the establishment.
The walls will be decorated with light embellishments, while the space is filled with eclectic furniture and light fittings to deliver an “enthralling and captivating” ambience.
Bartender Barney Toy, who honed his bartender skills in Auckland, New Zealand, has led the bar team to create a “magnificent mix” of cocktails.
The menu includes signature serves such as the Steve McQueen, made with Bulleit Bourbon, Martini Rosso and Luxardo Sange Morlacco; the Rhubarb Swizzle, mixed with Ketel One Vodka, rhubarb and vanilla syrup and Peychaud and rhubarb bitters; and the Pan Am, which landed Toy a spot in the top three of the 2015 Bacardi Legacy cocktail competition thanks to its combination of Bacardi Carta Blanca Rum, Aperol, lemon juice, orgeat, egg white and Angostura spray.
Little Bat will also serve an array of small plates, such as Marmite butter popcorn, rosemary and onion scotch eggs and bacon macaroni and cheese.
Little Bat will officially open to the general public on 26 February.
