TFWA: New World Exhibition date ‘preferred choice’
The Tax Free World Association (TFWA) has said its decision to move its flagship World Exhibition event to the first week of October is the industry’s “preferred choice”.
The TFWA World Exhibition is moving date to the first week in October
“The TFWA management committee studied all the options in much detail, and gave careful consideration to the implications, both positive and negative, of moving the date to the first week in October,” said association president Erik Juul-Mortensen.
“The conclusion is that the new date is the preferred choice of the vast majority of our members, visitors and exhibitors.”
Two years ago TFWA surveyed its members to understand their views on a change of date.
According to the association, the review found that, in addition to business considerations, holding the event in the same week at the beginning of October each year would avoid overlap with school holidays in many parts of Europe, and the potential disruption of strike action which is often planned for the later part of October.
TFWA added that the likelihood of better weather will also give more options for the safe set up of temporary structures and allow the staging of larger and outdoor events.
The next two editions of the TFWA World Exhibition & Conference will take place at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, Cannes from 2-7 October in 2016 and 1-6 October 2017.
The largest event in the travel retail calendar, the TFWA World Exhibition is one of SB‘s must visit shows for 2016 – don’t miss our full calendar round-up of other unmissable events here.
