Balcones makes senior market and distribution appointment

Texas-based Balcones Distilling has named Mark McKethan as director of market and distribution management ahead of its upcoming relocation into a new 65,000 square foot distillery.

As part of his role, McKethan plan for the distribution of products at the new facility

Bringing with him more than 30 years of experience in the spirits beverage industry, McKethan will strategically target distribution points for limited product quantities and plan for the distribution of products at the new facility.

He will also work hand-in-hand with Balcones’ brand manager and executive team to implement new marketing initiatives to increase the scope of the Balcones brand and increase availability of their spirits.

President and chief operating officer of Balcones Distilling, Keith Bellinger, said: “As our company continues to grow and the availability of our award winning whiskies increases, we need to maintain the same high level of quality and attention we instill in our products to the selection of distributors that will represent us.

“Mark brings a wealth of industry knowledge, both in the strategy of selecting the right distribution network and more importantly, in the execution of our efforts to address growing consumer demand for our products.”

Prior to joining Balcones Distilling, he acted as the CEO of the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank, where he lead and directed all operations and increased organisational gross revenue by 66%.

“I am thrilled to be working with the incredible staff at Balcones,” said McKethan.

“It is a position that will allow me to cross over between the spirits beverage industry and the art world, as I consider the whiskies that we make at Balcones to be works of art in themselves – carefully crafted by our resident artists and distillers.”

Last year, the brand released three new expressions: Staff Selection Single Barrel Single Malt Whisky, Texas Blue Corn Bourbon Whisky and Texas Rum.
