Spirit Cartel releases £2,399 Tequila in UK
By Melita KielySpirit Cartel has launched Tequila Clase Azul in the UK – including an Ultra Extra Añejo variant with a £2,399 price tag.
The Tequila Clase Azul range includes four Tequila expressionsMade from 100% organic Weber blue agave, the Tequila is bottled in handmade and hand painted bottles, crafted in the Mexican village of Jesús María in Jalisco.
The range includes four expressions produced in Los Altos and bottled at 40% abv – Plata, Reposado, Añejo and Ultra Extra Añejo.
The agave used to make Tequila Clase Azul is slow cooked in traditional stone ovens for 72 hours, steamed for 24 hours, left to rest with the over doors closed for 24 hours and then cooled “naturally” for a further 24 hours.
A “unique” strain of year is then used for fermentation before the spirit is distilled in pot stills to deliver the “highest quality spirit”.

Tequila Clase Azul Plata has an RRP of £94.99, Reposado has an RRP of £132.99, Añejo is priced at RRP £599, and the Ultra Extra Añejo expression carries an RRP of £2,399.
