SMWS unveils limited edition Christmas releases

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society has launched its Christmas Outturn; the biggest selection of whiskies it has released this year with 43 new expressions available.

The SMWS has released its Christmas Outturn, a selection of 43 new expressions

The Outturn features a selection of Scotch whiskies as well as rarer releases including as a Bourbon and a 30-year-old grain whisky.

Highlights of the festive series include 112.10 ‘A Comforting Hug In A Mug’; a 14-year-old Highland whisky with a nose of “honest sweetness, plenty of vanilla and cereal notes – even tropical fruits” and a “lively, even feisty” palate, and B3.2 ‘Ooey Gooey Cinnamon Bun’; a three-year-old single cask Bourbon that offers “warm, sweet and spicy aromas” on the nose, and “Christmassy cinnamon sticks dipped in molasses” on the palate.

A 30-year-old grain expression, G7.7 ‘Old Codger with a Jammy Dodger’, rounds off the series – “brimming with honey, cinnamon and saffron”, and “an initial taste of Jammy Dodgers, sweet jam and hints of mint”.

As with all of The Society’s whiskies, the new expressions are single cask, limited edition releases.
